General Class Agenda:
*Class length runs 57 minutes Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and 42 minutes on Wednesdays.
Passing Time - Use the passing time to take care of your bathroom and hydration needs. I will however allow you to bring your materials to class and then go take care of those personal things. As long as you tell me, you will not be considered tardy.
**If you need to leave my classroom for any reason once class has begun, take a hall pass, sign out on clipboard by door, and do not disrupt the class.
Bell Ringer - At the start of the science period, you will be expected to answer a series of 1-3 questions that I refer to as "The Bell Ringer." These questions will consist of some review topics, as well as some new topics to prompt thinking about upcoming content. During this time, I will be taking attendance and touching base with students who were absent the previous day.
Concept Focus - The middle portion of class is generally focused on learning/exploring new concepts or discussing previous concepts to make sure everyone is gaining the knowledge he or she needs to master the science concept. This time includes lab preparation and completion, research, task completion and/or discussion. There is a mixture of direct and indirect instruction. Time is spent in a mixture of individual, small group, and whole class grouping.
Work Time - Students will generally have time structured into the class period during which they can work to complete assigned tasks. Students may or may not have homework for the day, depending on how much work time is available and how well it is utilized by each student.
