Life Science
The 7th grade curriculum is focused mainly on life science concepts. However, we begin the year with a study of the scientific process, which provides a foundation for scientific thinking utilized throughout the year. Once the scientific foundation is in place, students use it to explore living things and classification. We then look more specifically at the cellular level of living things as we explore cell structure and function, as well as cellular processes. Our exploration of cells continues as we learn about genetic concepts that affect individuals and populations. As we finish the year, we broaden our focus to look at relationships between organisms and their environment during our ecology unit.
