Make-Up Work
When a student is absent from the entire science period due to illness/family emergency or other unexpected event he/she is expected to:
When a student is absent from the entire science period due to a planned absence that is known prior to being gone, she/he is expected to:
When a student misses a portion of class due to a band or orchestra lesson, she/he is expected to:
- Check the iCal app or Google calendar for science to see details from class for the day. This should be done PRIOR to returning to class.
- Attempt to complete as much of the assigned task as possible PRIOR to returning to class. Documents and directions will either be posted on this website under the current topic of study or in Google Classroom.
- If an assignment is due on the day you are absent, still try to submit it that day, if possible. Otherwise, submit your work the day your return to school.
- Upon returning to class, approach Mrs. Heitz at the start of class (during bell ringer) to discuss progress made toward make-up work and ask any clarifying questions, if needed.
- Finish make-up work and submit to Mrs. Heitz, as directed. Students who are absent from school for the day typically have an extra day to complete the task. Be sure to talk with Mrs. Heitz to verify your due date for work.

- Notify Mrs. Heitz that he/she will be gone as soon as possible.
- Ask for any work that can be completed before leaving. Attempt to complete this work, if any is provided. Submit it to Mrs. Heitz prior to leaving, if possible.

- Notify Mrs. Heitz via email prior to class starting that you will either be late to class or leaving early.
- Prior to class, check the iCal app or Google calendar for science to see details from class for the day so you have an idea of what you will miss. If the calendar indicates that work is due that day, make sure that you submit your work before leaving for your lesson or as soon as you return to class.
- Upon returning from your lesson, check with Mrs. Heitz or another student to catch you up on what you missed while you were gone. If there is a homework assignment given while you were out of the room, you are still held accountable for completing it.
